Finding the right therapist can be difficult…
Here’s some more information about me to help you better decide if I might be a good fit for you.
Education and work experience: I graduated from the University of Illinois with my Master’s of Social Work in 2009. Much of my 16 year career has been providing mental health services in public schools, supporting kids ranging from 2 to 21 years, as well as their family members and school staff. I then transitioned to clinical work in nonprofits serving the perinatal population, as well as child and adult survivors of trauma. Most recently I worked in a group private practice, where I had the honor of working with adults facing a variety of life challenges, including parenting, OCD, trauma, depression, workplace stress, and anxiety. I strive to bring empathy, connection, humor, and insight to counseling sessions while using evidence based practices. I find fulfillment and even joy in navigating this imperfect world alongside my clients.
Training: I’m formally trained in several treatment modalities, including CBT, ACT, EMDR, and exposure and response prevention (ERP). I have attended and completed the Behavior Therapy Training Institute (BTTI) through the International OCD Foundation, to get more extensive training in exposure and response prevention, the gold standard treatment for OCD. I’ve also earned my perinatal mental health certificate (PMH-C), enabling me to provide specialized care to the perinatal population. Having worked over a decade in public schools, I support educators managing burnout, stress, and compassion fatigue, as well as parents navigating the joys and challenges of raising children with exceptionalities and unique needs.
Personal: I live with my two kids, my husband, a dog, a cat, a frog, and way too many fish. I love my family, animals of all kinds, sunny days, the ocean, and sometimes eating dessert for breakfast. I’ve been working on being present in the moment, not worrying so much, and approaching each day with courage and curiosity.
I hope that you find the right therapist for you. If I’m not the right fit, I encourage you to keep looking, as there are fantastic people out there! If you’re curious to learn more about what therapy might be like with me, feel free to call, text, or email me! I wish you well!
